What is CCPA?

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a bill that enhances privacy rights and consumer protection for residents of California, United States. Amendments to the CCPA, in the form of Senate Bill 1121, were passed on September 23, 2018. CCPA has come into effect from January 1, 2020 and would result in a paradigm shift in how businesses handle consumer Personal Information (PI).

For-profit businesses, which meet any of the following criteria:
  • $25 million or more in annual revenues
  • Hold Personal information of 50K+ California residents
  • Have over 50% of annual revenues from the sale of personal information
